Howie & Landau

Chinese animated series about the Seven Swords.

Howie & Landau (Chinese: 虹猫蓝兔), also called Hongmao and Lantu, is a Chinese animated series created by Wang Hong and He Mengfan, produced by Great Dreams Cartoon. The show blends 2D animation with CGI.

The story follows a red cat named Howie (Hongmao) and a blue rabbit named Landau (Lantu). Howie leads the Seven Swords, a group of martial arts heroes. He is brave, resourceful, and handsome, tasked with uniting the swords' descendants to destroy the demon sect. Landau, head of Jade Toad Palace, is beautiful, skilled, and kind-hearted. She fights alongside Howie through life-and-death situations, though her simple nature sometimes lets others take advantage of her.

The Seven Swords include Sally, a pink squirrel who was the real owner of the Golden Whip Creek Inn. After being poisoned by Ma Sanniang and losing her voice, she nearly gave up but later mastered the left-hand sword technique and killed Ma Sanniang. Tease is a brown bulldog and a miraculous doctor, skilled with poisons. Though timid and vain, he will risk his life for justice. Big Ben is a wine-loving polar bear who initially fails to claim the Thunder Sword due to his drinking and gambling, but later reforms and wields it with great power. Jumper is a spider monkey who infiltrates the demon sect for years to avenge his parents. Dada is a panda who owns Baicao Valley and will do anything for his wife.

The main villain, Black-hearted Tiger, leads the demon sect. Fifty years ago, he was defeated by the White Cat and the Seven Swords. After training in seclusion, he returns seeking the blood of a unicorn to dominate the martial world. He dotes on his son, Black Tiger, but is ultimately killed by the combined Seven Swords. Black Tiger, his son, pursues Howie and the others to prevent the swords from uniting. He has a crush on Landau, which often puts him in a bind, but her indifference drives him mad, and he kills himself by stepping on an explosive. Ma Sanniang is a demon sect undercover agent posing as a sword master. She is cruel and manipulative, but after being killed by Sally, she is resurrected and later loses her son Amu, regretting her actions too late.

The series has multiple spin-offs, including 84 episodes for *Howie & Landau's Humorous Theatre*, 65 for *Howie & Landau's Cartoon Happy World*, 95 for *Howie & Landau's Happy Moments*, 84 for *Howie & Landau's You Asked Me*, 80 for *Howie
