Scum Villain's Self-Saving System is a danmei novel by the pseudonymous Chinese author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, often shortened to MXTX. It was first serialized on the online platform Jinjiang Literature City (JJWXC) and is the author's first and shortest novel, at eighty-one chapters and nineteen extras. The novel contains more comedic elements than the author's subsequent works and has a metafictional structure that parodies stallion novels, a genre of Chinese literature.

The novel centers on Shen Yuan, an anti-fan of the web novel Proud Immortal Demon Way (PIDW), who dies after cursing its final chapter. A greater power called the System transports his soul into the body of Shen Qingqiu, the villain of PIDW, and restricts his actions to prevent major plot deviations. Shen Yuan's goal is to survive and avoid the terrible fate that befalls Shen Qingqiu in the original story. By being kind to the protagonist Luo Binghe, he accidentally shifts the genre from a power fantasy to a gay romance.
Luo Binghe, the half-demon protagonist of PIDW, originally rises from humble beginnings to rule the world with a harem of over three hundred women. In the new timeline, his primary motivation becomes Shen Qingqiu's love and affection. Shen Yuan also clears up plot holes from the original novel, such as the reason Yue Qingyuan never drew his sword and the identity of Luo Binghe's father. The story includes secondary characters like Shang Qinghua, the author of PIDW who is also a transmigrator, and Liu Qingge, a peak lord saved from death by Shen Yuan.
