*The Tales of Wonder Keepers* is a Chinese 3D-animated fantasy children’s television series. Its first season was a co-production between IQIYI and Wizart Animation; subsequent seasons were handled solely by IQIYI. The show draws loose inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale *The Snow Queen*.
The story centers on Icy, the five-year-old daughter of the Snow Queen, who travels to the human world to live and go on adventures with her new companions, Gerda and Kai. Together, they explore a magical realm full of mysteries, pirates, magicians, and walking plants. When trouble arises, the trio transforms into the Wonder Keepers, using both magic and science to solve problems. Brave and resolute, they defend their town and fight for what is right.

**Plot**
Gerda and the clever weasel Luta rush to help anyone in need across their land. Gerda’s journey from the Kingdom of Eternal Frost ends when she safely brings Kai home. But an inquisitive little girl—Icy, the Snow Queen’s daughter—follows along. Gerda, Kai, and Icy are then transported into an ordinary world, where each gains extraordinary powers: Icy can freeze objects, Gerda controls the North Wind, and Kai builds various mechanical inventions.
In this new world, Icy learns to socialize and manage her powers as they face one difficult situation after another. Gerda, Kai, Luta, and Icy become superheroes operating from a headquarters, forming a community justice league called the Keepers of Wonders. Gerda guards the magic of the North Wind, using it to move objects through the air, while Icy wields her frost abilities.
Their magical skills clash with the science of Harald, a megalomaniac genius who builds battle robots. The pirate leader Alfida also opposes the Keepers. Gerda and Icy soon realize that magic alone won’t always stop the villains. They discover that Kai’s inventions—though not always used as intended—can match Harald’s creations.
When Icy vanishes, Gerda and Kai head to their headquarters and transform into the Keepers of Wonders. There they meet the fairy Florida and her magical garden, learning that Florida plans to use magic to raise an army of plants and turn the planet into a botanical garden. Lore & Background
The series was developed after Wizart Animation, in 2017, considered continuing the international feature film series The Snow Queen, aware of its growing subscriber demographic of seventeen million viewers in Russia and abroad. The creators decided to launch a spin-off animated series to allow audiences to engage with the characters without waiting the typical two years for a film. Directed by Alexey Zamyslov, Andrey Korenkov, and Aleksey Tsitsilin, with animation director Shelley Page as consultant, the series was first shown at the 2017 AFM. Music was composed by Brad Breeck, known for Gravity Falls, with additional music by Gabriel Hays.
